Magdalena Bay Fishing Tours

The Erik

Magdalena Bay has always been a mecca for fishermen. The area produces an enormous quantity of fish for both sport fishermen and commercial fishermen. The town of San Carlos inside the bay is a commercial fish processing port and for good reason. The fish supply seems to be endless.

THE FISHING

The area has resident populations of big grouper, yellowtail, sea bass, and more, but its biggest attraction is the migrations of fish that pass by the bay. Giant tuna, wahoo, dorado, and marlin are in abundance at various times during the fall of the year. Doing battle with these exciting fish while fishing from a Panga will give you the ultimate experience of man versus fish.

If the weather is good, which it usually is in the fall, you'll fish the outside banks including the famous Thetis Bank.

If the weather changes, or if your group decides you need a change of pace, the ship may move inside Magdalena Bay which offers excellent fishing of its own. For a true light tackle experience, anglers may want to take their Panga up into the estuaries and fish the Mangroves for corvina, bass, and snook.

Some of the magic of Magdalena Bay is its inaccessibility. It has no commercial airport, and it's a long boat ride from any major port like Cabo San Lucas or San Diego. Even driving takes a couple of days. That makes the mothership concept ideal.

GETTING THERE

You will be able to leave Los Angeles airport in the morning and be on the Erik in Magdalena Bay that same evening. You simply fly to La Paz and take our shuttle bus across the Peninsula to Magdalena Bay where the Erik is waiting for you in San Carlos. The next morning you are fishing. You fish all week, and a return to La Paz the following Friday. This is a 6-day adventure that you will remember for years, and the cost is far less than long-range fishing of other types.

THE COST

Because much of the fishing is done offshore for larger species of fish, the Magdalena Bay trips are limited loads with only 2 anglers per panga.

The price of $1,350 per angler includes ground transportation to and from La Paz airport, six days of food and lodging on the ship, and your fish are cleaned at no extra charge. Your only additional fishing cost would be tips for the crew and your guide.

Air fare is not included because the fares fluctuate constantly. After you sign up we will arrange your air flight to La Paz for you. You might even want to add a day or two to your trip and enjoy a little time in La Paz. Being the capital of Baja del Sur, La Paz features many fine restaurants and endless shopping opportunities.

Magdalena Bay is an affordable fishing experience you can't afford to miss.
