Shop-talk: There is a trick to fishing these strange-looking lures with hooks that at first glance seem too small. Move the jig very slowly along the bottom. When you first get bit it will usually be a light tug, similar to someone tugging on your shirt sleeve. When you first feel this resist the urge to swing and set the hook. Often the fish won't have the hook yet and you'll end up just pulling the lure away from the fish. Instead keep moving the jig and ignore the tugs until you fell the rod tip go down indicating he has hooked himself. Then swing, set, and start reeling.
