These are the standard tackle items you will need for fishing anywhere in Southern Baja California, such as Cabo San
Lucas, San Jose del Cabo, and the East Cape.
Here is a rundown on what's included in the package. RIGGING SUPPLIES
The hooks for the various size baits you may use including chunk baits and grouper rigs.
The sinker selection is a bare minimum. The further north you fish in the Sea of Cortez the heavier the sinkers you need, not because of the depth you fish but because of the tidal currents. The swivels are for rigging up grouper and trolling rigs. LEADERS
You'll need heavy mono to make up grouper leaders, wire trolling leaders for trolling for Sierra and Wahoo, a wire bait rig for fishing Wahoo, and a Shark leader if you get crazy and decide to hookup to one of those big nasty critters that inhabit Mexican waters. TUNA LURES
These are trolling feathers/plastic in 2 sizes and in the colors that work best in Mexico. The Zukers get most of the attention because they look pretty, but it's the smaller Hoochie lures that get bit when the fish won't take the bigger stuff. WAHOO LURES
The Yo-Zuri Bonita is the best-known Wahoo lure in North America. You never know when you'll have a shot at a Wahoo. Don't miss your opportunity. These magnificent fish can make a good trip spectacular. DORADO LURES
This style of lure with its flat nose and moderate size is often referred to locally as a "Dorado Killer." It is the best for Dorado, and often you'll be surprised with a billfish. DEEP TROLLING LURES
There are times when the best technique for getting everything from Cabrilla to Yellowtail is simply trolling these big deep diving plugs. In some parts of the Sea, trolling plugs are the most effective lures. METAL LURES
The Krocodile can be used anywhere but it is great for catching triggerfish and other small to mid-sized fish. It is also the best choice if you want to walk along the beach and try surf fishing.
The Megabait is best for fishing deep (yo-yoing) and the Tady is best for casting to schooling fish. MARLIN LURES
The package has the Marlin Lures separate. Most of the boats have marlin lures on board so you won't need these if you just want to use whatever they have. Some anglers want to be sure they've got all they need so the package is offered with or without the Marlin lures.
